Activities and Resources

Our fall Applefest celebration is an annual eventĀ  and it is a full day of apple dumplings, apple pies, baked goods, roasted chicken, pulled pork, hot dogs and all sorts of other goodies. In addition to food, there are games for the children, including a bubble house. But far and away the biggest draw is our APPLE DUMPLINGS. First come first served, come early!

Our Church takes very seriously the safety and protection of our children and youth during their time within our care. Whether in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School or on a trip with the youth, GUMC has polices in place that are based upon the Abused Children Laws of Pennsylvania and the Safe Sanctuaries policies dictated by the United Methodist Church. Teachers, volunteers and helpers are required to obtain the Department of Welfare and State Police clearances in order to work with our kids. Paid staff that are working with the kids must also obtain the FBI clearances. GUMC has a Safe Sanctuaries committee that is updating our current policy to make sure we are in compliance with the new (January 1, 2015) Pennsylvania Law.

There are Handicapped paring spaces on two sides of the building, located in the rear adjacent to a ramp to access the upper floor and on the right side of the building that allows access to to lower level via a stair lift.

On the upper level is a unisex restroom that is about to under go a renovation to make the room completely accessible.

The sound system has been upgraded and assisted listening devices are available.

Large print Bulletins, Bibles and Hymnals are available for use.

During each of our communion services, Gluten/Sugar/Milk/Corn Free bread and juice are available at one of our communion stations.

Twice each year our church has a Rummage Sale for the purpose of raising extra funds for special programs or projects around the church. People come from all other the area and have been coming for years because they want to help the church, but are also pleased with the quantity and quality of teh items for sale.
