Ministries of the church are ways that we show God’s Grace, Mercy and Love to the people and to the community. Our ministry goal is to be and act as Jesus would have us do.

Children’s and Youth Ministries

Sunday School classes are available for children 3 year old and up to twelfth grade.

A Nursery is provided adjacent to the sanctuary for babies and toddlers up to age 3. The nursery is equipped rocking chairs for mom’s who would like to stay with their babies and fitted with a sound system that allows parents to hear the service.

During the Worship service, children are invited into the sanctuary for a Children’s Chat with the pastor. Additionally Sermon Sacks are provided to help restless children to keep busy during the service.

Vacation Bible School




For one week in the summer, the church and its grounds transform into a mountain campsite, or a jungle encampment or ocean adventure, depending on the VBS theme.



Easter Egg Hunt


The annual Easter Egg Hunt has been a regular event for over ten years. Children in the neighborhood are invite for an Easter lesson, music, and an egg hunt.

Adult Studies

Personal Discipleship is one of our FOCUS AREAS, and on any given week, you can participate in one of two adult Sunday School classes, a Wednesday night Bible Study, a Tuesday night Small Group Bible Study at someone’s home, or a ladies Bible study (Ragamuffins) on every other Monday.

Caring Ministries

DSC_1067The Caring Hands Ministries of the church are responsible for reaching out to those in need. Could be providing food for a family in the community or a providing meals to someone who has just come out of t hospital, or building a ramp for someone in a wheelchair, or proving a funeral dinner in the church fellowship hall. This is a volunteer effort from the men and women of the church.

Kids sermon w canned goods



GUMC annually has food drives at Christmas and Thanksgiving and the last Sunday of the month is a food collection day as well. The food collected in distributed to the Central Food Pantry in Elizabeth Township and to te Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Prayer Shawl Ministry



A Prayer shawl and blanket ministry meets several times a month to create gifts for our shut ins, for children in Childrens Hospital and for those with serious medical conditions . They are delivered to various locations around the area, and the ladies include a note telling that person they have been prayed for.
